If you could design a religion, what would it look like?

Posted on May 8th, 2007 by Rebeca : Trusting the Moment Rebeca
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 08, 2007:

We don't need anymore religions!  People need to embrace whatever works for them but since the questionsis what would I design if I HAD to , I would say it already exist in  Theosophy. Its primary purpose is to encourage altruism and compassion. From the Society's website: The Society does offer for consideration some basic theosophical concepts which lie at the root of the world's philosophies and religions; but beyond supporting its objectives, those wishing to join need not accept any particular beliefs, and members may belong to any religion or to none.

Basic concepts include :  consciousness is universal and individual, reincarnation, karma, universality, evolvement .

What do you appreciate most about your mother?

True unconditional love.  When we (3 sisters) were younger it definitely bordered on co-dependency at times.  However, as we got older and started our own separate lives,  she learned to  embrace her own life  - independent from us.  The older I get, the more I realize how lucky I was to learn unconditional love from her - and still do.

What do you love most about where you live?

.  What I love the most about San Diego are the trees.  My two favorite (which I don't know their names) that I say hello to and touch whenever I see them  are 1) the birch like trees that are as soft as a baby's bottom and are always peeling layers, and 2) the massive trees you see in Balboa Park with the amazing root system and braches that are just calling you to climb up and listen to the birds and talk to the squirrels. ---Currently in San Diego but moving to Tucson in 2 months

What purpose does money serve in your life?

Posted on May 17th, 2007 by Rebeca : Trusting the Moment Rebeca
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 17, 2007:

Money has allowed me to not have to worry about the basic necessities of life.  I have the luxury of being able to work on evolving as a person and serving the greater good.  For a long time, I judged people who (in my eyes) were materialistic. I equated money with greed and heartbreak.  I now realize  laboring with love gives people who are trying to elevate the vibration of this world the ability to really serve the greater good.  Bill and Melinda Gates  are a wonderful example of the impact  2 people have made on international health. Per Linda Goodman, my goal of giving 50% of  my  money away is a work in progress  -- with a very very long deadline ;)

It has also given me the ability to be an example for others in the choices I make as a consumer. I have the ability to spend the extra money to buy organic food, env. sustainable clothes, and fair trade goods.

What did you learn yesterday?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 23, 2007:

Wearing a rubber band on your wrist REALLY helps serve as a reminder to have your intention always before you.  I have been working on setting my intentions for the day but then don't think about them again until I get home.  Yesterday, every time I caught my mind wandering I happened to look at my wrist and WA LAH! It reminded me to bring my focus back to the present moment and realign myself with tmy goals for the day.

Pick a word of the day. Tell us about it.

Discombobulate: "be confusing or perplexing to; cause to be unable to think clearly. " For some weird reason it hurts my ears whenever I hear someone use this word. Bad vibes.. The first time I heard "discombobulate" was around 5 years ago and since then I hear it ALL the time.  It just feels so rough rolling off the tongue.  Yet I have found myself , more than once, only being able to use THAT word to really describe the feeling of the moment. Please make it go away. :)
